[So I apparently thought to renew this journal but not the one for some variety of murderbirb? I have no idea what pastme was doing.

But. It's been a long couple months for a certain siren and the prince she technically probably kidnapped a little bit. One has to assume that by now, they have been picked up by the northerners, and there's been a funny game where everyone involved knows who Renn is, but Kohane has basically straight up denied answering that directly to anyone, because plausible deniability is the best party trick. How she's getting away with basically continually lying to the King with a straight face is a mystery for the ages.

But, they've been put up somewhere and so, tired from another round of "no, he's totally just some other guy named renn, wow he does look a lot like the prince isn't that weird", Kohane's come back to wherever they're staying. You know. Having left Renn to his own devices in a new country with a probably unprecedented amount of freedom with his time.

She's not smart.]

[Of course this won't be a problem. It would have led to some prince wandering the markets, basically trying to learn everything he can as quickly as he can. And to his credit he's a sponge in a way that few people, hell, even most spirits cannot claim to be. Unfortunately it's obvious he's not from around these parts, and well. He's a prince. He can't help but stand out, even if it's in that just somehow cleaner and prettier and sparklier and more likely to attract singing animals sense of the word.]

[Did I mention how oblivious he is?]

Well, once she realizes he's not home, she's gone out into the markets to find him and she's just kind of...marveling at the level of oblivious. She's even going to work her way to standing right next to him.

See how long until he notices. That kind of thing.]

[Going on five minutes now. To his credit, he's very charming and that seems to be doing him for most of his interractions with tradesmen, musicians, artists, and so on. Amazingly he hasn't had his money stolen yet, people may suspect he's actually bait for some kind of sting.]

[That would make this a little less ridiculous, honestly. But, around the 5 minute mark, she'll just. Interrupt whatever he's doing with the nice man selling instruments.]

Oh, no, try the mandolin instead. More of a challenge, but it'll suit you better~

...I-I was just browsing today, anyways.

[He was not expecting that. He might have thought that he had made a clean break from the royal authorities.]

[Royal authorities, yes. But there's no escaping Kohane and he should know that. But, at least she's only laughing a little bit.]

Yeah? I kind of thought you'd be browsing more intently over by the nice lady there with the paints, Renn.

[Kohanes get mean when they're tired.]

I took most of my supplies with me, when I left. They'd been designed to break down small; something of a novelty.

[Of course the prince has magical art supplies. It probably explains how he's not permanently smeared in paint, too.]

...How long have you been there?

About five minutes. I'm pretty sure I could have taken your wallet, keys, and possibly your pants, if I'd have been so inclined.

[She hasn't stopped smiling, but she does sigh, a little.]

I saw an opportunity and took it. I'm not particularly keen on trading one cage for another, even if my life's in less danger here. I realize we're going back, but...

[He sighs, a bit.]

I'm not saying to stop, either. But maybe, work on your observational skills, a little?

[If she remembers, Renn wasn't allowed outside of the palace and approved various points without some heavy escort, when he was younger. This might be one of the first times he's been out and about without a guard or six.]

I... I heard more than one of your sisters turned up in the capital, too. Does that cause any problems?

[He is trying to salvage what remains of his dignity, chill.]

...Renn. My oldest sister is the queen.

[Did. Did she forget to mention that? She probably forgot to mention that.]

And Nimhe won't cause trouble...it's kind of amazing she's even come down off the mountain at all. She doesn't really like fighting, or people.

I knew that. I just. The other one being there made me worry. As we've seen there's a few people who aren't too thrilled with my being here. Or, you know. Alive.

Well, let me put it this way. Night is the only person who's defeated Lidan in one-on-one combat pretty much ever. And I doubt it'd be one on one this time, given the King is some fucking terrifying man what uses swords. Sure, he'd probably kill one or both of them before they killed him, but still.

Nimhe hates fighting and honestly doesn't really like Lidan too much either, so even if she did get involved, wouldn't be on his side. Even if she did, she won't have it in her to hurt me.

And I can't beat him in a fair fight, but his mind control doesn't work on me and I can still turn his entire army against him before he gets close enough to strangle me, given how my voice carries. Leaves plenty of time to run while he's busy killing them all.

I think you'll be fine.

[...Kohane, maybe you take after your big brother more than anyone thought. Normal people don't have plans to kill their entire family, just in case.]

...Do you seriously plan to kill everyone you meet, or is family special?

[Staring at him a little.]

I mean...you've met my siblings.

Yeah, and you know most of mine.

[He sighs and rubs his face.]

Then again, given they were planning on killing me, maybe I'm the weird one here.

Ehhh...I don't know. I mean...Lidan and Nimhe basically raised me, so I can't really say that I'm not warped, but.

Maybe it's better that you're not like that. There's a reason none of us are really cut out to rule anything.

But that does require me to rely on the sort of people who are like that, then, doesn't it?

[He smiles at her.]

Dependence... or is it actual trust?

[Oh, he actually got her to blush. But she's taking his hand.]

C'mon, let's find dinner. You're getting hungry by now, right?

I admit, I am. Are you actually going to eat or am I just going to be a battery for you again?
